The Whaling Museum will be closed from the 3rd of September 2016 for the duration of a building and renewal project which will begin in September. Through the long-awaited building project, the exhibition area, as well as the facilities for the general public, will be improved significantly. A consequence of the project will be that there will be no Symposium on Whaling and History in 2017. There will, however, be events celebrating the museum’s 100 jubilee in the summer of 2017 and information about these will be posted on this site at a later date. The museum’s whale catcher «Southern Actor» will be open as usual during the summer season next year (2017). For up to date information and to follow the building work and creation of the new exhibitions follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. We look forward to welcoming you back to a heightened museum experience in the near future!
