The Whale as Symbol - new book
Professor of Sosial Anthropology at the University of Oslo, Arne Kalland, has a long time interest in the question of why whaling has become one of the most controversial environmental issues and how whales have become such strong symbols. These and other issues are at the core of his book "Unveiling the Whale. Discourses on Whales and Whaling" which also contribute to a better understanding of how controversial issues are dealt with.
